In every culture a group of experts called priests, shaman, etc., have claimed to have the key of knowledge over man's physical and spiritual nature. These men have provided guidance for the health of man's physical body, mind, and his eternal soul. Over time the healing arts became corrupted. The Apostle John in his vision, in AD 96 described a system Babylon the Great Mother of Harlots that controls and makes merchandise of all things. Instead of sharing their knowledge with each ill person and glorifying Yahweh as the person became well, the priests of Israel hid information from Israel and began to charge exorbitant amounts to the sick. This was why they opposed the Messiah when He not only healed the physical body, but also took healing to another level and healed the souls of men.

The tabernacle of man is three-fold (I Thess. 5:21, I Cor. 6:19-20). It is composed of a physical body, a soul, and spirit or there are three planes on which man operates: material, mental, and spiritual. Each aspect of man needs certain elements to sustain it. The physical body needs food, water, and oxygen to maintain it, like the soul needs truth, faith, and hope. The physical body would normally obtain its nutrients from food by extracting them from vegetables, fruits, nuts, and grains. However, it is almost impossible to get the full nutrients that our parents received only 50 years ago because of several factors. The environment has been polluted, the soil robbed of its life giving properties, and preservatives added to the food to extend shelf life. (Note: The perfect food that Adam ate in the Garden has declined dramatically since its creation.) Jon Barron wrote in Lessons From the Miracle Doctors that it takes 80 cups of spinach today to get the equivalent of iron that was in one cup 50 years ago (p. 47).

It should come as no surprise that people's physical bodies become ill more often than they did before. In the 1950s "cancer was striking one out of every four people, by the 1980s cancer was striking one out of every three people, by the year 2010 cancer will strike one out of every two people." (Forward viii, The Calcium Factor by Robert Barefoot & Carl Reich, M.D.) In short, the wine or dogma of Mystery Babylon, Mother of Harlots has driven men mad (Jer. 51:7). We are experiencing a health crisis on physical and mental levels to reflect the spiritual dilemma of man.
