One of the most important functions of any living organism, besides eating, is the reproduction of itself. The primary purpose of the human reproductive system is the perpetuation of the species. Since man is made in the image and likeness of the Creator (Elohim, Gen. 1:26), the reproductive system has great spiritual significance, for it reflects Elohim's reproductive power of creating the universe.
The Apostle Paul wrote the natural things point to the spirit (Rom. 1:19-20). Thus, as the natural body has a reproductive system to produce a physical copy of itself, so must the spiritual body reproduce the fruits of the spirit (Gal. 5:22). Spiritual reproduction can only be done when the soul is united with the Holy Spirit.
In John 15:4-7, the Messiah said to His disciples: "Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bright forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing."
