At the end of this millennium, science has made one of the most profound discoveries in this century--they have cloned a lamb named Dolly. The lamb was born last year in Edinburh, England and is genetically identical to her mother, which is her only parent. The only other discovery that would rival this one would be the splitting of the atom at the University of Chicago in the first half of this century. We can use a play on words and say that cloning is the splitting of Adam's seed.
Was the creation of Adam the first clone?
Biologists thought cloning was impossible for all mammals. Yet when we look at the Bible, Elohim (God) cloned the first man Adam in principle because Adam did not have a mother and father. There was no sexual intercourse for his creation. Simply put, cloning verifies what Elohim did when He created all life forms.
Now cloning is defined as: "the technique of producing a genetically identical duplicate of an organism by replacing the nucleus of an unfertilized ovum with the nucleus of a body cell from the organism;" it is also defined as one of more organism descended asexually from a single ancestor." Adam fits this definition of cloning since he is the direct descendant of Elohim made in His image and likeness. Adam was identical to Elohim in every aspect, but made lower than the Creator. Let us examine the principles involved in cloning a sheep.
How did scientist make Dolly?
Now New Scientist (http://www.newscientist.com/clone/clone.html) said that the: "DNA comes from a single cell taken from her mother's udder [breast]. This makes her the first mammal ever created from the non-reproductive tissue of an adult animal." What is even more remarkable is that the Scottish scientist took an unfertilized egg and removed the nucleus or the DNA. They then fused a donor cell with this unfertilized egg. This caused the fused cell to divide and form an embryo for it is the DNA that is the instructions that tell the cells what to do. They then implanted this embryo into the surrogate mother for it to mature. It took the scientists numerous of attempts to perform this clone. Now many fear the cloning of humans will not be far behind.
Was man meant to clone humans?
The implication of this discovery has caused many nations in the US to outlaw cloning humans. What the politicians, scientists and theologians do not understand is the nature of mankind because many believe that mankind evolved instead of being created by a Creator. Man being made in the image of Elohim was imbued with the ability to create as the Creator, only to a lesser degree. This means that he has evolved in his understanding of cloning life as Elohim did in the creation and as was stated earlier.
Is DNA our book of instructions for physical life?
Understanding that DNA is the code of life has great spiritual significance. It contains all the genetic information for producing a human body. Simply put, DNA is the book of life for all human procreation.
Moses explained the genealogy of Adam using the analogy of a book of Adam. He wrote: "This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God [Elohim] created man, in the likeness of [Elohim] God made he him (Gen 5:1);" What this means is that it was Adam's seed or DNA that populated the earth. After Elohim created Adam and Eve, reproduction began to take place sexually.
Finally, after some 6,000 years, we have now become able to reproduce life on physical levels similar to Elohim's. Now man may in the future clone himself physically, but he cannot clone himself spiritually. The Messiah gave His disciples the power to clone souls that are able to bear forth fruit of the spirit that are peace, love, faith (Jn. 15:1-5; Gal. 5:22-3).
