December 2000 was the tenth year that the Power Latent In Man SHOW (PLIM SHOW) aired on Chicago Access Corporation (CAC, http://www.cantv.org), a local access company and a not for profit community cable corporation that allows local members of the community to produce and air their own show.
Local cable access was the result of the Federal Communications Commission mandating in 1972 that the cable company give something back to the local community. “beginning in 1972, new cable systems {and after 1977, all cable systems} in the 100 largest television markets are required to provide channels for government, for educational purposes, and most importantly, for public access.” (http://www.gseis.ucla.edu/courses/ed253a/MCkellner/ACCESS.html) So cable companies operating in Chicago are required to fund local community cable access, which is Chicago Access Corporation (CAC). Public access cable came relatively late (1985) to Chicago. Many smaller cities have had public access since the 1970s, and some since the 1950s.
Besides being a resident of the local community, the only requirement a potential producer needs before shooting a show, is to take training classes so that he/she can become familiar with the equipment. Initially, eight members of the DTC class took training classes in 1990 to certify us to use CAC’s television equipment. Although all eight members are not currently part of the crew, the show has always been blessed with replacements to continue.
The first airing of the PLIM SHOW was December 1990. It is a one-hour show that airs every Wednesday from 8:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. on Channel Access Corporation. Some of the first shows to air were: “The True Name of Heavenly Father and His Son,” “Do You Know What is the New Testament?,” “Is Tithing Valid in this Age of Grace?” and “What is Eternal life?” Responses were initially slow, but positive. The most popular shows were: “Is Tithing Valid in this Age of Grace?” and “The Name of Heavenly Father and His Son.”
The Power Latent In Man SHOW has produced more than two hundred shows during this ten-year period. The shows cover a wide area of topics such as health, psychology, science, current events (the Gulf Crisis), and Bible related topics.
Most of the cable viewers’ responses to the PLIM SHOW have been very encouraging. Basically, the viewers thank PLIM for enlightening them on spiritual matters that they had not considered or that their church is not teaching. They also request access to the multitude of books referenced during the show.
There are about 25 telephone callers a month to the PLIM SHOW. Some shows get between ten to fifteen callers. Most viewers ask for a complementary Power Latent In Man Report magazine that we send them for free. The Power Latent In Man has databases of over 2,500 viewers that have called the PLIM SHOW since its inception. Out of the 550,000 households that have cable in Chicago there are approximately 50,000 to 100,000 households watching the Power Latent In Man SHOW. Visitors to our public classes average between 80 - 150 visitors a year and this has been increasing in the last two or three years. Most attend class because of the PLIM show.
The birth of the “PLIM REPORT” was the result of a flood of responses to the tithing show. Callers not only wanted a copy of the videos, they wanted something written on tithing so they could take it to their ministers and ask them why they were demanding tithes of the church. The first “PLIM REPORT” published November 1992 featured the tithing article. Since then there have been over 40 issues and over 300 articles on different subjects.
Basically the last ten years has been a learning experience for PLIM. Not only has the truth been preached to the captives and to those that are in darkness, but the feedback from the viewers revealed that people are definitely hungry for the truth and they realize that most of the religious world is in darkness. They see that the political situation in this country has gone awry and there is no hope of straightening out many of the social problems and corruption in this country except there be some divine intervention by Yahweh. Most believe that we are all living in the End Times spoken of in Bible.
We humbly thank Yahshua the Messiah for giving us the strength, courage, and discipline to continue with His work of feeding people the truth. This is a true blessing. Our prayer is for protection and providence. “For thou, Yahweh (LORD), wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield (Ps 5:12).”
